Black sunflower seeds are a popular seed with most wild birds. Blue Tits in particular love Black Sunflower Seeds and are a joy to watch as they remove the husks for the nutritious centre. They are a cheaper alternative to sunflower hearts.
Some birds will take the seed away to remove the husk, others will stay on the feeder for a feast. Either way black sunflower seeds provide an oil rich energy dense food source for a lot of wild bird species, including Tits, Finches and Sparrows.
